Karibu in Kenya

My experience in Kenya will stay with me forever. During the days we spent there, we had the opportunity to work on a construction project of two classrooms in the village of Madunguni. We helped build new classrooms so that the children could have a safer and more comfortable environment in which to learn.

This work was not only about bricks and mortar, but about the unity of hands working together and hearts that understand the needs of others. What impressed me the most were the children of this same village. Every smile they shared was a clear reminder that even in difficult circumstances, hope remains alive. I felt that we were receiving far more than we were giving; the wisdom, generosity, and strength of these people left a deep impression on me. The encounters with community members, their stories, and the way they welcomed us as if we were part of their family gave me a lesson in humility that I will never forget. We also visited Mbaoni, Kipangajeni, and Marareni, where we saw the work that had been done in previous years by other Karibu Malta volunteers. The children of these villages carried smiles and eyes full of curiosity, welcoming us with a love that cannot be measured.

When I look back at the photos from the trip, I relive memories of learning and joy. The experience was not just a volunteering journey, but a personal transformation that opened my eyes to what truly matters: the strength of community, solidarity, and the love that you share with others. Kenya has taught me that beauty lies in simplicity and that when you open your heart to others, the world becomes a better place.
