A group of young people from CAPYouths recently took part in an Advent live-in at the Capuchin friary in Kalkara, where they shared two days of prayer, reflection, and fraternity alongside the Capuchin friars. The experience offered the youths a unique opportunity to step into the everyday rhythm of religious life, joining the friars in their simple communal living as part of their preparation for Christmas. Central to the live-in was the theme of the Nativity as a “living crib,” encouraging participants to move beyond traditional representations and to engage personally with the mystery of Christ’s birth through guided reflection and prayer.
The live-in also provided space for personal growth and discernment, helping participants deepen their faith and reflect on how the message of Christmas speaks to their own lives. By witnessing the Capuchin charism of simplicity, fraternity, and closeness to Christ, the young people were invited to reflect on the beauty and relevance of consecrated life today. The experience highlighted religious life as a meaningful and hopeful witness within the Church, offering young people a concrete example of lives dedicated to God and service to others.
